The numerical readout displays the current temperature of the interior of the furnace.

The Mode button changes the furnace from "READ" to "SET" mode. In SET mode, the readout displays the temperature the furnace is set at.

After five seconds, the furnace automatically reverts back to "READ" mode.

When the mode=SET, the Increase and Decrease buttons raise and lower the temperature the furnace is set at.

In MATE215, you should not have to alter the set points.

Press Mode to put the furnace in "SET" mode.

Press the increase/decrease buttons until the readout displays the desired temperature.

After five seconds, the furnace will revert to "READ" mode. The display should slowly increase or decrease to your set temperature.

Make sure operators are wearing proper safety attire as described in the section on safety.

Operator A : While wearing the proper safety gear, turn the handle counter-clockwise to the unlocked position and slowly open the door.

Do not let go of the door handle.

Operator B : While wearing the proper safety gear, use the tongs to put the workpiece in the center of the oven on the white alumina brick.

Close the door in-between each workpiece to keep the furnace at its set temperature.

Remember that the displayed furnace temperature is less than the workpiece temperature when the workpiece is loaded. It will take time for the workpiece to equilibrate to the furnace temperature.
